I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t provide you with some tips to help add some zest and flava to your brand. In my opinion, marketing is really just another way to connect people to the greater good. I consider it my own way of sharing the impactful stories of myself or the individuals around me. And if you want to successfully market yourself, I’d suggest you start at square 1: Your brand!

Many companies you’ll come across may find themselves in the B2B (business-to-business) B2C space (business-to-consumer). Me? Let’s just say I fall in the category of P2P – That’s people to people!!! Being in the P2P business requires some level of understanding when it comes to my personal brand and how I connect to others. How do I do that, you ask? Don’t worry. I got you.

Here are some starter tips to consider when stepping out into the world to become a BRAND new you!

  1. Social media is your friend

The good thing about the social world is that you have the opportunity to connect with individuals worldwide! Yes…worldwide. And for people who are just getting started, it is one of the easiest and most accessible resources out there. From the linguistics of Twitter conversation to bright-colored photos of Instagram to the cooky and clever videos of TikTok,  you have access to the world at your fingertips. Use your platform to show everyone what you can do!

  1. Know your “why”

This is probably one of the most important pieces in developing a brand. It’s a simple statement to a sometimes complex answer, “Why am I doing this? What’s my purpose?” Once you understand your “why,” you’ll know exactly what will lead the decisions you make and the steps you’ll take along the way. Those very values that you hold dearly will ultimately contribute greatly to your own successes in life. By knowing your “why,” you know your values and you also know what’s best for your brand.

  1. Understand your audience

I can’t stress this ENOUGH! Your audience will be your biggest support group. But … does it make sense to be selling a jackhammer to teachers? I don’t think so! Think of your audience as your very own small community (hint: they are!). These people share similar interests to you, your product, or service, they frequently interact with you and others alike, and they likely have some of those same values we discussed in tip 2! Those are your people. Stick with them and your brand will always have a home.

  1. It’s about your impact

If what you’re doing doesn’t have a greater purpose that can change the scope of the culture and the people in this world, then you may want to reconsider the path you’re taking. When I’m taking on a new project or working with a new client, my immediate thought is, how will this project help change someone else’s life for the better? That’s what we’re here for in the long run – to use our gifts and skills to spread messages that will help someone else. Remind yourself of your why and then use that why to create something that will be memorable, helpful, and impactful.

  1. Remember: YOU are the brand

At the end of the day, who you are is the best brand out there. Be uniquely YOU! Embrace your flaws, transcend your ideas and let power stand for you! Everything else will flow as it was destined to. I promise!
